The name of our country is Bangladesh. It is a small south Asian country. Total area of this country is 1, 47, 570 square kilometers. It is surrounded by India to the east, west and north, by the Myanmar to the south east corner and the Bay of Bengal is to the south. She gets her freedom in 1971 after a great blood shedding liberation war. Dhaka, the biggest city of Bangladesh is the capital of the country. The population of this country is about 150 millions. Majority of the people of this country are Muslims and the rest are Hindus, Christians and Buddhists. Most of the people here speak in Bangla. There are some tribal people who have their own languages. People of all community live here with harmony, enjoying equal rights. Bangladesh has three big rivers like the Padma, the Meghna and the Jamuna and so many small rivers and canals. Rice is the staple food of the people of this country. Besides rice – jute, wheat, tea, maize and other crops are grown here. Most of the people of this country live in villages. The main occupation of the people in general is agriculture. There are many tourist spots here. Among them Cox’s bazar, the largest sea beach of the world, Sundarbans, the greatest mangrove forest of the world, Kuakata sea-beach, Chittagong Hill Tracts, and Madhobkunda waterfall in Sylhet are great attractions for the tourists. The people of this country are very patriotic, brave and hospitable. However, we are proud of Bangladesh.
