Bayazid’s devotion to his mother

Bayazid’s devotion to his mother

There is no one who has not heard the name of Bayazid. He was a saint of Islam. He is well-known for his obedience to his mother. It was an event of his childhood. One day he was studying beside his ailing mother. His mother was sleeping then. He was absorbed in studies. At midnight he could hear that his sleeping mother sought for water. Without any delay, he took a glass and went to the jar. But alas! There was little water in the jar. He did not want to disturb his neighbor. He went to a distant fountain to bring water. He filled the pitcher with water and returned home. But he saw that his mother was in deep sleep. He did want to disturb his mother and he kept standing beside his mother’s bed. His mother awoke in the morning. She at first astonished to Bayazid at her bed. After a while she could remember everything. She prayed to Allah to bless her son with the highest spiritual honour.  Allah granted his mother’s prayer and Bayazid became famous afterwards.

Or
There lived a young boy. His name was Bayazid. He was a very meritorious/brilliant student. He was very obedient to his parents and teachers. Once his mother became ill. One night he was studying by the side of the bed of his ailing mother. All on a sudden his mother woke up, raised her head and told him to give her a glass of water. Bayazid went to the kitchen to bring water. He found the pitcher empty. He searched for water here and there, but in vain. Then he decided to fetch water from the nearby fountain. He took the pitcher and went to the fountain for water. He came back home filling the pitcher to the brim. He poured water into the glass and came to his mother. He found that his mother was fast asleep again. He did not want to disturb his ailing mother. He remained standing beside his mother’s bed. His mother awoke in the morning and felt surprise to see her son standing. Byazid told her everything that happened the night before. She embraced her son with deep love and prayed to Allah/God for his successful life.
