Dialogue on the importance of learning English

Raju : Hello Meena, how are you? (হ্যালো মীনা, কেমন আছো?)

Meena : Fine, thank you. What about you? (ভাল, তোমাকে ধন্যবাদ। তোমার খবর কি?)

 

Raju : I am also okay. What are you doing? (আমিও ঠিক আছি। তুমি কি করছো?)
Meena : I am reading an article about the importance of learning English. (আমি ইংরেজি শেখার গুরুত্ব সম্পর্কে একটি লেখা পড়ছি।)

 

Raju : Nice! Actually English is essential in our every walk of life. (চমৎকার! প্রকৃতপক্ষে আমাদের জীবনের প্রতিটি পদক্ষেপে ইংরেজি জরুরি।)

Meena : Of course. It is an international language. In the present world, it plays an important role for communication. So, learning English is a must. (অবশ্যই। এটি একটি আন্তর্জাতিক ভাষা। এটি বর্তমান বিশ্বে যোগাযোগের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। সুতরাং, ইংরেজি শেখা একটি আবশ্যক।)

Raju : Right you are. Our international relations and trade would be affected much if we do not learn English well. (ঠিক আছে। আমরা ইংরেজি ভাল না শিখলে আমাদের আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক ও বাণিজ্য অনেকটা প্রভাবিত হবে।)
Meena : Exactly. Besides, without efficiency in English none can expect to receive higher studies as all the books on higher education are written in English. (একদম ঠিক। তদুপরি, ইংরেজী দক্ষতা ব্যতীত কেউই উচ্চতর পড়াশোনা পাওয়ার আশা করতে পারে না। কারণ উচ্চশিক্ষার সব বই ইংরেজিতে লেখা।)

 

Raju : Yes, it is only English that can help us to enter the storehouse of knowledge. (হ্যাঁ, শুধুমাত্র ইংরেজিই আমাদের জ্ঞানের ভাণ্ডারে প্রবেশ করতে সাহায্য করতে পারে)

Meena : Absolutely. But it is a matter of shame that most of the university graduates lack proper knowledge on English. (একেবারেই। তবে এটা লজ্জার বিষয় যে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বেশিরভাগ স্নাতকই ইংরেজি বিষয়ে যথাযথ জ্ঞানের অভাব বোধ করেন।)
